Mr. Monroe was on the East Coast when the Lime Ridge fire broke out on June 29th.
When he returned in early July, he went hiking up the trail to survey the damage. This is part of the natural cycle of California and is an ecological process called succession; technically secondary succession when a ecosystem is damaged, usually by fire. Primary succession is when an ecosystem is completely destroyed; for example by a volcanic eruption with either successive lava flows in quiet eruptions or a pyroclastic flow in explosive eruptions. While up on the top, Mr. M noticed that one of the 100 foot fire hoses was left, so he folded it a few times and dragged it 2 kilometers to the entrance gate where he called the fire department to come pick it up.
